Simple Suture Patterns for Rodent Surgery is an instructional video describing how to successfully undertake suturing in a laboratory animal.

This resource describes how to tie common knots used in laboratory animal surgery including the instrument square knot and the Surgeon’s knot, common mistakes when suturing and how to avoid them.

It was created by the US National Institute of Health’s Office of Animal Care and Use (NIH OACU) who retain copyright. It is available as a YouTube video.

This resource will be of use to students and researchers with no prior experience of suturing in laboratory animals, and educators for use in training courses or as supplementary educational resources.
