Research Animal Resources

Research Animal Resources is a comprehensive resource providing guidance on the breeding, care and use of research animals.

The resource provides information on all aspects of the care and use of animals in research including: ethics committees (IACUC), animal care, veterinary care, experimental guidelines (including protocols and the physiological and behavioural characteristics of different species), surgery, anaesthesia, euthanasia, safety and training.

It was developed by the University of Minnesota (USA) to inform animal care staff and researchers of good practice and Institutional policies and procedures. Copyright is retained by the University of Minnesota.

The resource provides a useful information source for animal care staff, vets, researchers and educators. It will be also be of benefit, as an exemplar, to colleagues wishing to create similar sites for their own Institutions.
