Undergraduate and Taught Masters Research Animal Sciences curricula

This resource could be used in the delivery of the following Learning Outcome:

  • The relevant regulatory structures governing the use of research animals
  • The legal obligations and intervention mechanisms to protect the welfare of research animals

The regulatory structures are outlined in Pg 9-11 of this document, with the details of Named Persons, (individuals with identified responsibilities under the Act) on Pg 71-79.

The legal obligations of researchers and those with responsibilities under the Act to protect the welfare of research animals are provided in the Chapters for each individual, with the intervention mechanisms are detailed in Chapter 11.

This education could either be delivered didactically or in a discussion session of student concepts of the ideal vs actual regulatory structures could be debated
