Femoral Arterial and Venous Catheterization

Femoral Arterial and Venous Catheterization is a 10 minute video which describes the surgical procedure for the catheterisation of the femoral artery or vein of a rat for chronic blood sampling, drug administration and blood pressure and heart rate measurements in conscious animals. It also includes sections on catheter maintenance and use. The video is accompanied by a transcript.

This resource was created by Dr Jespersen and colleagues from the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Michigan State University, USA and sponsored by AD Instruments. It is a free access resource available from the Journal of Visualized Experiments, with copyright being retained by the Journal.

This resource will be of use both to researchers who which to learn these techniques and a reference resource for more experienced colleagues.
