Adverse Outcome Pathways, Molecular Screening and Toxicogenomics is a collection of validated Adverse Outcome Pathways (AOPs).
An Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOP) describes a logical sequence of causally linked events at different levels of biological organisation, which follows exposure to a chemical and leads to an adverse health effect in humans or wildlife. They are used toxicology, in risk assessments to human health and an alternative to the use of animals. The resource currently comprises of 5 AOPs although more will be added in time. The first in the series comprises of guidance for developing and assessing AOPs.
