The Interspecies Database is a database of the physiological and anatomical characteristics of common laboratory animals.
This searchable database comprises of information on the physiology and anatomy of different species and strains of laboratory animals including differences between organs, age or gender of animals. Data can be compared both between species and with human data.
It was developed by the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports. It is made available by the 3Rs-Centre Utrecht Life Sciences in partnership with the RIVM. Copyright is retained by the 3Rs-Centre ULS.
The database will be of use to researchers seeking to select the most appropriate species and strain of animal model for their studies.
